A Hairy Situation

We’ve all spent countless weekends, paychecks, and agonizing hours trying to get rid of our fuzzy link to the animal kingdom. It sucks, it stinks, it burns, it hurts…(sigh).

I don’t have a solution to offer you, but I do have some options:

*Treatment frequency is exaggerated, kind of.

Repeat every 2-3 weeks.

  • Lightens dark hair in minutes

  • May tingle or irritate skin and eyes
  • Hair is less visible, but still there
  • Could cause chemical burn if left too long

Repeat ever 4-6 weeks for some women, or once a week* for Italian, Southeast Asian, Latina, and Eastern European ladies.

  • Dissolves hair painlessly

  • Skin burns before resistant hairs dissolve
  • Could cause chemical burn if left too long

Hair is yanked out in large sections. Yes, it hurts. Repeat 4-6 weeks for some women, or once every 3 weeks* for Italians, Southeast Asians, Latinas, and Eastern Europeans.

  • Hair adheres to wax and is completely removed
  • Skin feels baby soft

  • Hurts a lot!
  • Can cause irritation
  • Can remove more than just hair (i.e. skin!)

Like waxing but not as painful. Repeat 4-6 weeks for some women, or once every 3 weeks* for Italian, Southeast Asian, Latina, and Eastern European ladies.

  • Hair adheres to mixture and is completely removed
  • All-natural (sugar, water, and lemon)
  • Hair is removed in direction of growth = less pain

  • Hurts!
  • Can irritate very sensitive skin

Hurt factor depends on your wussie level. Repeat 4-6 weeks for some women, or once every 3 weeks* for Italians, Southeast Asians, Latinas, and Eastern Europeans.

  • Thread wraps around hair and plucks out completely
  • Skin is not yanked
  • Great for removing small hairs
  • Cheap, easy, no mess

  • Hurts a little
  • Minor irritation, if any. Don’t be a baby!

Again, hurt factor depends on your wussie level. Repeat 4-6 weeks for some women, or once every 3 weeks* for Italians, Southeast Asians, Latinas, and Eastern Europeans.

  • Hair is removed from roots
  • Great for stray chin hairs!
  • Gets small hairs
  • Cheap, easy, no mess

  • Hurts a little
  • Not good for large areas
  • Method responsible for millions of eyebrow mishaps

Repeat once every week for some women, or every day* for Italian, Southeast Asian, Latina, and Eastern European ladies.

  • Surface hair is removed
  • Skin feels smooth
  • Gets small hairs
  • Cheap and easy

  • Stubble
  • Benefits are short-lived
  • Razor burn, cuts, in-grown hairs

The process involves a microscopic needle. Repeat… never (once you’ve completed your treatments)! You’re done, at least for some women. For others, you never know.

  • Follicle is destroyed
  • Potential long-term solution

  • Multiple treatments
  • Expensive
  • Results are not immediate
  • Has caused severe skin irritation

The process feels like tiny rubber band snaps. Repeat… never (once you’ve completed your treatments)! You’re done, at least for some women. For others, you never know.

  • Follicle is destroyed
  • Long-term solution

  • Multiple treatments
  • Expensive
  • Results vary
  • Not great for dark hair on olive or darker complexion

It’s a cream! Repeat routinely for some women; Others, can’t afford to forget!

  • Slows hair growth
  • Reduces hairiness maintenance

  • Rx = chemicals
  • Prescribed
  • Results vary
  • Does not remove hair
